MORE than 200 years of Richardson family history came together at a reunion held at Campbell Town over the weekend.
Isaac Richardson and his brother Simeon were transported to Van Diemens Land in 1831 as Swing Rioters, before setting up their lives at Campbell Town.
Fourth-generation descendent Beverley Richardson said more than 200 people, from babies through to family members in their 90s, took part in the reunion.
"We were really happy with number because we had no idea how many people were going to show up," Mrs Richardson said.
"It was so nice to have so many different members of the one family together, and to hear some of the stories people had to tell was amazing."
With people coming from every corner of the country, Mrs Richardson said one of the highlights of the reunion was meeting a child called Isaac.
"It was quite ironic as he also shared a birthday with the original Isaac Richardson," she said.
"We also had a table for each of the six family lines with photos and documents, and a big family chart so everyone could see where they fitted in."
Family members were asked to bring historic items relating to the family.
"One of the things I liked the most was a set of paintbrushes that belonged to one of the descendants on the first family line," Mrs Richardson said.
"They were used by a father and grandfather to paint carriages in the early 1900s, and the pair went on to make cars."
A book compiled by Mrs Richardson was also launched during the reunion, detailing the history of the family.
