A NEW social network based at Cressy, Longford, Perth and Evandale will help teens and 20-somethings find their place in the community.
The Young Adults Social Activity Group has been formed to help residents aged between 12 and 25 who are not in work or education.
Northern Midlands Council youth development officer Peter McKenzie said the group aimed to make contact with Northern Midlands residents who would otherwise fly under the radar.
"It is a social support group, but at the same time it may be able to help them get work and make contacts," Mr McKenzie said.
"So far we've only had one event but we're going to have another at the men's shed and you never know, some of them might end up doing some projects there.
"We'll have a barbecue and hopefully we will get the Red Cross to come talk food sense, whether its hygiene or budgeting and then we're going to Zone 3 (laser tag)."
Mr McKenzie said he created the group, which had grown to 12 people, as there was little social support for youth in the area.
"One of the particular reasons why I'm doing it is unlike Campbell Town, which has got this lovely big health service, we don't have anything like that for this age group," he said.
"There are only very small health services here - we don't have an outreach health service, we don't have a community health centre or a neighbourhood house."
Mr McKenzie said anybody interested in joining could contact him on 0417561150.
