CHEQUERED banners, a 1960s' dance event and cars, cars, cars, will be inspiring the community next March when the Longford Revival Festival returns to town.
The second festival has been locked in for the weekend of March 24 and 25 and the Northern Midlands Council is getting in early to promote the event.
At its December meeting the council committed $14,000 to erect 30 grand prix style banners on Wellington and Marlborough streets.
It also planned to hand out Heritage Highway showbags "as a means of promoting (the) tourism region".
Northern Midlands Mayor Kim Polley said the Longford Revival Festival presented an opportunity to promote the area.
"We have a very long heritage of racing (and) it would be good to get people back into the town, looking at the old hotel where a lot of the memorabilia is displayed," Cr Polley said.
She said a committee of four was formed to further discuss the issue of promotion.
The committee included Cr Polley, Cr Ian Carins, Cr Ian Goninon and Cr Janet Lambert.
The Rotary Club of Longford will also organise a dance at the Town Hall on the Saturday night of the Revival festival.
